RAMONE AND RENE prepare to serve so that President Rod Hogan and Sgt-at-Arms Doug Cargo can begin their machinations. ROTOPIG visits Don Hoke for the miserable historical joke he told.

VISITING ROTARIANS, introduced by Secretary Randy [after a suitable fine],  were John Taber [Transportation Engineer] from the Rotary Club of Park City, Utah <LINK> and Dr. Don Hoke [Museum Director] from the McKinney Rotary Club <LINK>.

ABSENT WERE Matt Brown, Deb Burdick, Kevin Cain, David Daniels, Steve Dippel, George Elking, Eric Hartter, Ray Hopper, Judy Jackson, Glenn Justice, Ken Lambert, Juergen Mahneke, David McCall, Don Mellor, Matt Moore, John Payton, Doug Ray, John Roach, Tom Rodgers, Chris Sharon, Shep Stahel and Scott Villines.

PRESIDENT ROD accepted a banner from Bill Moore,  who had visited Beisenzio Rotary in Florence, Italy, District 2070 <LINK> and presented a banner to John Taber from Rotary Club of Park City, Utah <LINK>.

GARDENING GADGET MONTH CHAIRMAN George Elwell and co-chair Darrin Pennartz started the ball rolling for donations of gardening and yard stuff for the Oktoberfest Auction.

ROTARY EXPO
<LINK> CHAIRTHINGS Bud McBrayer and Colin Light hustled us to bring in our garage sale items before April 11th for storage in the warehouse space southwest of Tino's Too.  Call or email Colin to pick up your items.

NON-RUDELY LEAVING EARLY was Joyce Baumbach [Librarian] who properly advised the President of her departure, apologized to the speaker and paid a two-bit fine to ROTOPIG.

CLEAN UP PLANO DAY is Saturday, April 14th and Rick Chron was lining up volunteers to supervise groups of Judge Payton's Kids [who are doing community service] through the highways, alleyways and creek sides picking up trash from 8-11 am.  Meet at Poor Richard's Cafe at 7 am for breakfast and then on to Barron Early Childhood School <LINK> for assembly and disbursement.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Brenda Rogers, was Don Hoke, Ph.D., Executive Director of the North Texas History Center <LINK> <LINK> [which was the former  Collin County Hysterical Society] and Bryan Lean, Curator of Collections and Exhibits. For Show & Tell, Bryan brought the oldest item in the collection, which was a book of prayer printed in Dublin, Ireland in 1776. He also brought a curling iron from 1900 and a collection of homemade  musical instruments used in vaudeville performances from 1940-1970.  As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School in honor of the speaker and duly signed by him.  The Book was "Seeds of A Nation: Texas" <LINK> by Charles and Linda George.

GEORGE ELKING
is recovering well from hip replacement surgery and a 5 bypass heart surgery.  He is making up the meetings he is missing and expects to be released from captivity this week in time to attend our next regular meeting on Friday as well as  work the Blood Drive at the Rotary Expo on Saturday.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS
met this morning after the regular meeting. President Rod, in a continual state of bumbling ineptitude, forgot about the meeting and was somewhat unprepared. The un- agenda was zipped through pretty quickly and the meeting was over by 8:18 am.
Present were Rick Chron, Rod Hogan, Richard Butterly, David Marks, Warner Richeson, Colin Light, Pat Hite, Steve Blair, Chris Roach, Randy Plumlee, Richard Biggers, Doug Cargo, Doug Bicknell, Jim Stroup, Darrin Pennartz and Terry Dobbins. There was some discussion on the Children's Medical Center, the Number of RYLA candidates to be sponsored and the sweat equity projects with the Willowcreek Church.

Dear District 5810 Rotarians

We need your help!

The Rotary EXPO Auction and Rummage Sale is now in full swing.  The media is promoting the event from newspaper, radio, television, billboards, Public Service Announcements and the like.  Thank you for being a part of this special Public Relations program for Rotary International District 5810 clubs.

We are collecting items every day and placing them in storage for delivery to Texas Stadium on
Wednesday, April 11th.  It is preferable that your items are delivered to the warehouses in advance of the event so that they can be sorted and priced.  Warehouses have been secured district-wide for your convenience.  Items will be accepted at the stadium that day, for those of you who would like to deliver them starting at 9:00a.m.  -  along with the public donations that will also be delivered, in sellable and serviceable condition.

-We need volunteers to help with every aspect of the event.  Please contact our team to find out where you can be of service.  It will surly be an event to remember!

-Will you please help us to secure some of the following items for the EXPO:

Generators
Extension cords
Sponsorships

-Along with the collection and storage of items, the delivery to Texas stadium and the set up April 11th-13th, we are planning an RV Overnight on Thursday April 12th, for those who would enjoy bringing their RV for lodging after setting up on Thursday and then awaken on Friday to help get stared early in the morning.  We will have great fun and fellowship!

Please get involved, donate those items you've long to discard, volunteer and
tell ten friends to visit the EXPO

The EXPO will also serve to create awareness of the GLOBAL SAFE CLEAN WATER crisis.

The net proceeds will benefit the GLOBAL SAFE CLEAN WATER Initiative of District 5810 and the humanitarian programs of the Rotary Foundation.  Remaining items will be given to the Salvation Army.
