RENE AND RAMONE served breakfast while Sgt-at-Arms Doug Cargo started his rounds.

VISITING ROTARIANS, introduced by Secretary Randy Plumlee, were Louise W. Davis [Museum] from the Plano Rotary Club, Rupi Grewal [Orthopedic Surgeon] from the Havering East Rotary Club <LINK> in England and City Manager Tom Muehlenbeck [Tourist] from the Plano Rotary Club.

ABSENT WERE  Joyce Baumbach, Doug Bicknell, Richard Butterly, Ray Hopper, Glenn Justice, Ken Lambert, Sharon Lewis, David Marks, Bud McBrayer, David McCall, Matt Moore, Darrin Pennartz, Brenda Rogers, Greg Rushin, Chris Sharon, Shep Stahel, Don Wilhelmus and Jane Wyen.

SECRETARY RANDY had a pertinent quote by Arthur Godfrey who said: "I'm proud to pay taxes in the United States; the only thing is, I could be just as proud for half the money."

PRESIDENT ROD
had a special "Welcome Back" for George Elking who had hip replacement surgery and then a quintuple bypass for follow up.  George missed [and made up] a few meetings but never let up on the emails. He's headed to the Rotary Expo at Texas Stadium tomorrow to work with the Carter Blood Bank.
PRESIDENT ROD was fined for malfeasance in office and numerous other acts of bumbling ineptitude.

BANNERS WERE EXCHANGED
with Rupi Grewal [Orthopedic Surgeon] from the Havering East Rotary Club <LINK> in England. Rupi was in for the weekend to celebrate the 1 year birthday of her great nephew.  She cheerfully accepted the challenge of telling the joke of the day and dutifully paid her two-bit fine.

LOUISE DAVIS
[Museum] from the Plano Rotary Club invited us to participate in the new Plano Rotary Project: The All American Soap Box Derby to be held on a hill built next to Plano Senior High School on Saturday, June 2, 2007.  Sponsorship opportunities, Registration forms, etc. are available on the web page at http://www.northtexassoapboxderby.com/public/home.aspx .  Judy Jackson announced that Copynet Office Systems <LINK> is sponsoring one of her grandchildren in the race.
COLIN LIGHT asked for help with moving stuff for tomorrow's Rotary Expo at Texas Stadium.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Program Chairthing John Roach, was Ms. Cathy Harris of Life Line Screening for Health & Wellness. <LINK> The nation's leading provider of vascular and osteoporosis screenings.  Four different screenings plus blood tests are available. As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library in the David McCall elementary school and duly signed by the speaker.  the book was "The Great Big Book of Tiny Germs" <LINK> with Bill Nye.

APRIL IS HOME AND GARDENING MONTH for donations of auction items for Oktoberfest.  New Member Bill Wray had some stuff!

MAKE PLANO BEAUTIFUL DAY was Saturday and teams could be seen all over the city picking up trash, including members from our club.  Meeting at Poor Richard's <LINK> at 7 am were Rick Chron, Pat Hite, Rod Hogan, Doug Cargo, Bill Moore, Doug Bicknell, Scott Villines, Richard Biggers and Terry Dobbins. This breakfast gang met with Judge John Payton at 8am at Barron Early Childhood School. John provided teams of teenagers who were led through the streets and alleys of the Wyatt North Subdivision by two PSR Rotarians per team. Trash was light, weather was cold and the job was finished quickly.
