RENE AND RAMONE are resting up to serve breakfast. Treasurer Chris Roach and member Brenda Rogers are discussing economics. Way past Treasurer Sharon Lewis laughs about the certified letter that PSR received from the IRS. Program Chairthing John Roach gives the club salute and finally President Rod Hogan double gongs the meeting to order.

SGT-AT-ARMS DOUG CARGO AND ROTOPIG assess John Roach a two-bit fine for his "Sinko de Mayo" joke.

SECRETARY RANDY PLUMLEE introduces the guests and member Shep Stahel is befuddled to discover that he has a guest: Software Engineer Danny Morris. The retired Gordon Beach is the guest of Warner Richeson and City House Manager Charles Worford is the guest of Randy Plumlee.

VISITING ROTARIANS
were Plano Rotarians Doyle Dean [Education-Senior High] and City Manager Tom Muehlenbeck [Tourist]. Tom took the opportunity to praise our own Jim Stroup, who manages the Plano Centre <LINK>. There was a prayer breakfast there last Wednesday and the power was off until about 5 am and Jim was still able to serve thousands at 6:30 am.

SECRETARY RANDY
gives us A Senior Moment. A very self-important college freshman attending a football game, took it upon himself to explain to a senior citizen sitting next to him why it was impossible for the older generation to understand his generation. "You grew up in a different world, actually an almost primitive one." The student said,  loud enough for those nearby to hear, "We, the young people of today, grew up with television, jet planes, space travel, men walking on the moon, our spaceships visiting Mars.  We have nuclear energy, electric and hydrogen cars, computers with high speed processing . . ." pausing to take another drink of beer.  The Senior said: "You're right, son.  We didn't have those things when we were young . . . . . so we invented them. Now, you arrogant little snit, what are YOU doing for the next generation?"

PRESIDENT ROD
called on Brenda Rogers [Real Estate] for a Classification talk. Brenda specializes in short sales of distressed properties.  She was fined two-bits for keeping our attention.

ABSENT WERE Steve Blair, Matt Brown, Richard Butterly, Kevin Cain, David Daniels, Reeves Davis, George Elking, Yvonne Hanks, Pat Hite, Ray Hopper, Judy Jackson, Glenn Justice, Ken Lambert, David Marks, David McCall, Matt Moore, Bill Neukranz, John Payton, Darrin Pennartz, Bill Peterson, Doug Ray, Bob Warren, and Richard Wells.

PRESIDENT ROD presented a check to Charles Worford from City House <LINK> for the new "My Friend's Place" <LINK> for newborns to 9 years old.  There is a ground breaking scheduled on  May 21, 2007.

RUDELY LEAVING EARLY was Shep Stahel.
THIS IS SPORTS MONTH  for donations of auction items for Oktoberfest.  The "Coach" is Jim Stroup and he is hustling us for golf balls, bats, balls, gloves, chairs, etc.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by program Chairthing John Roach, was Dr. Jim Davis, U.S. Secretary of Education's regional representative who lives in Plano.  He has participated in numerous educational programs from Africa to Europe to North America. He says that the "No Child Left Behind" law signed by President Bush in 2002 is expiring and needs to be renewed with some fixing up. As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School in the name of the Dr. Davis and duly signed by him.  The Book was "Starting School".
