JOKE
Richard Butterly

BULLETIN IDITOR was absent today and this report was cobbled together from notes taken by the Assistant Editor and from rumors and innuendos.
SGT-AT-ARMS AND ROTOPIG had a fine moment with Poor Richard over his joke of the day.

VISITING ROTARIAN, introduced by Secretary Chris Roach, was Randy Brodhead [Hot Air Balloon Sales] from the Plano Rotary Club.

SECRETARY CHRIS continued the secretarial tradition of pithy sayings with the following in honor of the 4th of July.  "If crime fighters fight crime and fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight?" - - George Carlin.  "Freedom is like taking a bath- - you have to keep doing it every day." - - Florence Kennedy. "Freedom of the Press means no ironed clothes"  - - Unknown.

ABSENT WERE Steve Blair, Matt Brown, Kevin Cain, Rick Chron, David Daniels, Reeves Davis, Steve Dippel, Terry Dobbins, Pat Hite, Judy Jackson, Glenn Justice, David McCall, Bill Moore, John Payton, Doug Ray, John Roach, Brenda Rogers, Jim Stroup, Scott Villines and Jane Wyen.

PAST PRESIDENT ROD HOGAN recognized Past Past-President Richard Butterly for his extreme work and presented him with a pin.

MEMBERSHIP PLUMMETS under the new administration, who plans to set a new low in mediocrity. Skip Jenkins [Accountant], Director of the Foundation , resigned. His General Ledger was out of balance.   Doug Bicknell [Civil Engineer], Director of Club Service,  is plotting a move to Houston.

THE KING AND QUEEN OF PUBLIC RELATIONS were chosen to be Chris Sharon and Sharon Lewis.
SGT-AT-ARMS DOUG AND ROTOPIG fined President Richard for not having a program and for extreme malfeasance in office at his first meeting.

BUD McBRAYER, fresh from the RI convention in Utah, reported that over 17,001 Rotarians were there.  He recognized George Elking for his work as District Blood Drive Chairthing and slurred right into our local Blood Drive Chairthing, Tom Rodgers, who reported on the success of the 4th of July Parade Blood Drive.  Police Chief Greg Rushin hustled us to "vote" for the Police in the annual Battle of the Badges Blood Drive <LINK> and then he slipped out early.
PAST PAST-PRESIDENT RICHARD BUTTERLY [Restaurants] will cater next weeks meeting in honor of his and Richard Wells birthdays.

PRESIDENT RICHARD called for Oktoberfest reports and got a "Whino" - - Warner Richeson, who's complaining that he has collected only 30 bottles for the Oktoberfest auction. Warner "found" a can opener with Bud McBrayer's name on it and "sold' it to him in a fine moment. Sharon Lewis reported that Plano Profile will run free ads in their magazine beginning in August.

ACTING TREASURER CHRIS ROACH noted that 3rd Quarter dues are now delinquent.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS met after the regular meeting.  Doug Cargo was confirmed as Sgt-at-Arms. Contact person between Children's Medical Center and Plano Sunrise Rotary is Chris Roach. Water Project is complete. Book sales are next Saturday the 14th for books going to South Africa. Meeting adjourned at 8:19 am.
