TODAY'S MEAL was catered by Poor Richard's Cafe <LINK> which gave our regular server, Rene, a break and tourists like Hugo, a taste of the unusual.
NEW TREASURER PAT HITE notes that 3rd Quarter Dues are now delinquent. That doesn't bother Director of Membership, Joyce Baumbach because she's all paid up.
DA JOHN ROACH was fined two-bits for a real groaner of a joke.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY RICHARDS. Richard Butterly gave an "armpit" wave after being serenaded by the club. Richard Wells gave ROTOPIG two-bits for having the same birth date. Richard of Poor Richard's Cafe <LINK> donates a catered meal on his birthday for a change of pace.
SOMMELIER WARNER RICHESON whined about only having half the wine needed for the Oktoberfest Auction and urged the members to bring it all in next Friday, which is the last week of the drive for spirits.

BATTLE OF THE BADGES BLOOD DRIVE <LINK> Chairthing Tom Rodgers says that it is going on right now.  Sign-up sheets are swirling around the room as Ken Lambert explains to Brenda Rogers [no relation to Tom Rodgers] what's going on.

PRESIDENT RICHARD BIGGERS called on Golf Chairthing Steve Blair, who is reassembling his rained out Tournament to next Friday at 9:30 am at Twin Creeks.

VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS introduced by Secretary Chris Roach were Randy Wright [Real Estate] from the Plano Rotary Club and the new Fire Chief, Hugo Esparza guest of Rod Hogan.

PRESIDENT RICHARD'S MEDIOCRE attempt to run the meeting was further downgraded by George Elking's cell phone ringing.

ABSENT WERE Ric Armstrong, Rick Chron, Reeves Davis, Yvonne Hanks, Juergen Mahneke, David Marks, David McCall, John Payton, Randy Plumlee, Greg Rushin, Jim Stroup, Don Wilhelmus and Bill Wray.

RUDELY LEAVING EARLY WERE Shep Stahel at 7:23 am, Tom Rodgers and George Elking at 7:28 am.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Steve Blair, was Rutledge Haggard, Chairman of the Board of the Hendrick Academy of Honor <LINK>. The mission of the Academy is to provide the means for qualified students who have had adversities to enroll in college and, with continued moral and financial encouragement and support, to graduate. Our club presents gift certificates to the students at their annual Christmas Luncheon. For some, this is the only gift they get at Christmas. Their next fund raising event is the annual golf tournament sponsored by the Plano Rotary Club on September 10th at Heritage Ranch.  As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary school in the name of the speaker and was duly signed by him.  the book was "Life Doesn't Frighten Me" by Maya Angelou <LINK>.

JOHN ROACH found some California wine at two dollars a bottle and donated a dollar for someone to match.

MEMBERSHIP LAST ROTARY YEAR started at 52 and ended at 52.  We added Doug Cargo, Deb Burdick, Keith Sockwell, Skip Jenkins, Ron Wilson, David Marks, Bill Moore, Matt Moore, Brenda Rogers, Eric Hartter, Bill Wray and Danny Morris.  We lost Jan Jane, Bill Fox, Ron Wilson, Robert Aasen, Deb Burdick, Jerry Hoagland, Matt Moore, Darrin Pennartz, Chris Sharon, Skip Jenkins, Doug Bicknell and Keith Sockwell.
