BLOOD DRIVE CHAIRTHING TOM RODGERS presented the Battle of the Badges Trophy for 2007 to the Police Department.  The trophy went to the Police Department in 2005 and to the Fire Department in 2006.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Joyce Baumbaugh, was Dr. Miné Yücel, Vice President and Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. She has a B.S and M.S. in Mathematics from Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey and a Ph.D. in economics from Rice University in Houston, Texas.  The national economy is looking better today than even 1 week ago. 4% growth. 4.5% unemployment. Only glitch: the housing sector is not doing well. Texas is doing better than the national economy in employment growth.  Construction is not good, but is better than the nation's. A book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School in the name of the speaker and duly signed by her.  The book was "Counting Rhymes".
