JOKE
Richard Butterly

RICHARD BUTTERLY  took a licking for a bad joke that was in poor taste.

VISITING ROTARIANS, introduced by Secretary Chris, were Doyle Dean [Education-Sr. High] from the Plano Club, Harry Polly [Small Business Banking] from the Plano Rotary Club, Rex Parcells [higher Education] from McKinney Rotary, Jeff Sandene {Financial Advisor] from Plano Metro Rotary, and Keith Self [Retired Military] from McKinney Rotary.

LUCKY GUEST was Robert Posner [Minister-Collin Creek Church] who bought two tickets to Oktoberfest.  He was the guest of Judy Jackson.

SECRETARY CHRIS
attributed some quotes to the appropriate members. Chief Greg Rushin is alleged to have said "A good time to keep your mouth shut is when you're in deep water."  Car Dealer Eric Hartter alleges that "The trouble with bucket seats is that not everyone has the same size bucket." And  Hunter Hanks wants to know "What age would you be if you did not know what age you are?"

MEMBERSHIP CONTINUES to plummet under the current leadership.  Latest to fade away was Rick Armstrong [Aturkey-at-Law]. Must have been due to legal problems.

SGT-AT-ARMS Doug Cargo continues to bemoan the fact that our Official Fine Bucket - - - ROTOPIG is missing and he's stuck with a Junior Pig that dribbles coins out of the bottom. Little or no effort is being made to recover the porcine plunderer. Doug asks that anyone with information on his whereabouts contact someone and report any sightings.  Anonymous information is acceptable. Arrangements are being made for a tip hotline:  1-800-PIG-LOST.

ABSENT WERE Steve Blair, Matt Brown, George Elwell, Ray Hopper, Paul Huang, Ken Lambert, John Payton, John Roach, Richard Wells, Don Wilhelmus and Jane Wyen.

OKTOBERFEST ANNOUNCEMENTS were made by Randy Plumlee,  Judy Jackson, Doug Cargo and Sharon Lewis.

BOOKWORM COLIN LIGHT
needs about 6 people to help pack books on Saturday mornings from 9-11 am at the warehouse for the Book Drive Project <LINK>. About half of the containers have been processed and that gives some more working room. Also, the air conditioner has been fixed, so it's less of a Sweat Equity project than it was.

POLITELY LEAVING EARLY was Bob Warren [CPA] to go move his office to another building.  He had notified the President, apologized to the speaker, and paid a two-bit fine.  RUDELY LEAVING EARLY were Shep Stahel at 7:20 am and Visiting Rotator Doyle Dean at 7:30 am.

HENDRICK ACADEMY OF HONOR <LINK> Golf Tournament hosted by the Plano Rotary Club is Monday, September 10th, 2007 at Heritage Ranch Golf and Country Club <LINK> in Fairview.  They need our support.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Acting Program Chairthing Doug Ray, was Robin Popik, Volunteer Resources Supervisor for the City of Plano <LINK>. In 2006, 5,000 volunteers donated 77,673 hours of service to the City of Plano, valued at $1,218,316. As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary school in Robin's name and duly signed by her.  The book was "I Can Do It, Too" <LINK>.
POOR RICHARD was fined again for his poor joke.

.

WARNER RICHESON noted that Harry Polly was at our meeting and he was a Leader of Camp Enterprise and we should give him a few minutes to talk. We did. He did.  On Sunday, September 9th, driver or drivers are need to pick up 6 students from the camp in Midlothian.  Now in its 20th year, Camp Enterprise is an intensive, three-day seminar conducted by the Rotary Club of Dallas which exposes talented Dallas-area high-school seniors to the business world. These  young men and women explore the fundamental challenges, opportunities and obligations of the free enterprise system. The highlight of the program is a computer simulation that challenges students to apply management techniques they have learned to make the highest profit.
