GROUND BREAKING FOR 'MY FRIEND'S HOUSE' <LINK> is scheduled for 10 am on Tuesday, September 18th at 6525 Independence. <MAP LINK>

NO PROGRAM TODAY. President Richard called for a Club Assembly to report on the machinations for Oktoberfest coming up soon. There is no Program Chairperson. No programs are scheduled, although there are rumors that the next two meetings are covered.

VISITING ROTARIAN, introduced by Secretary Chris Roach, was Tino "The Taco Tweeker" Trujillo [Restaurants] from the Plano Rotary Club.  Tino was the Governor's representative who helped form our club in 2000 and he is an Honorary Member of our Club as well as our host for our weakly <sic> meetings.

LUCKY GUESTS WERE
Michelle Robbins, an EDS <LINK> Technical Manager and the guest of Joyce Baumbach and Robert Posner, a minister from the Collin Creek Church <LINK> and the guest of Judy Jackson.

SPECIAL GUEST was Anna Konarzewska from Garwolin, Poland <LINK> who is in Civil Safety Engineering.  She was the guest of Bill Peterson, Regional FEMA Director, who had a fine moment with ROTOPIG Jr.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:
District Conference  is Oct 19-21 down in Richardson. Officers, Directors and new members need to attend. There will be a Rotary EXPO both at the State Fair <LINK>, September 28th-October 21st.  If you man the booth to give out Rotary information and take donations, you can get free tickets to the Fair for you and your family.
PRESIDENT RICHARD continues to be oblivious to and unconcerned about the fate of the missing ROTOPIG.
"DUNK THE JUDGE", our own John Payton, at PESH on Friday, September 28th.

GEORGE ELKING announced that the first meeting for the Thanksgiving Special at Poor Richard's Cafe <LINK> on  November 22nd will be today at 9am at Poor Richard's Cafe after the BOD meeting.

ABSENT WERE Matt Brown, Kevin Cain, David Daniels, Reeves Davis, Steve Dippel, Ray Hopper, Ken Lambert, Bud McBrayer, Bill Moore, John Payton and John Roach.

DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL SERVICES COLIN LIGHT asked for help tomorrow to finish up repacking the books going to South Africa.  Faithful workers showed up as usual but were out of boxes.  President Richard was presented with  a book from the pile entitled: "If I am in Charge Here:  Why is Everyone Laughing?" <LINK>

STEVE BLAIR
reminded us that the Hendrix Academy Golf Tournament sponsored by the Plano Rotary Club was on Monday the 10th.  Teams have been formed but there is still room and time for last minute golfers.  BRENDA ROGERS was recognized for donating 12 bottles of wine to the Oktoberfest auction.

OKTOBERFEST WEEKLY MEETINGS have been moved to Wednesday night at 5:30 pm at the Bavarian Grill.
POOR RICHARD took exception to an article in the paper that said he was the oldest restauranteur in Plano.  That honor goes to Tino Trujillo. Richard has the oldest restaurant in Plano. He was fined for trivial minutia.

PR PERSON SHARON LEWIS pointed out some of the excellent publicity we are receiving for Oktoberfest especially that in the Plano Profile <LINK>.

SECRETARY CHRIS
gave us some quotes in honor of Labor Day.  Steve Martin said: "All I've ever wanted was an honest week's pay for an honest day's work." Your Mom and Dad might have said: "The best way to appreciate your job is to imagine yourself without one."

JOYCE BAUMBACH reported that dinner ticket sales for Oktoberfest were about halfway there. It's time to bring in your sales with the stubs filled out.  Same for the raffle tickets.

RICHARD [RESTAURANTS] & JUDY [AUCTION CHAIRMAN]
passed out a list of 650 Restaurants in Plano and urged us to ask them for gift certificates. Honorary Member Hunter Hanks immediately volunteered to recommend his favorite eating place.

SGT-AT-ARMS DOUG CARGO, who also does the work assignments for Oktoberfest, says to sign up and get your request in for what work you want to do [be it cook or bottle washer], or he will arbitrarily assign you to a job.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS met at 8:15 am after the regular meeting. Present were Richard Biggers, Rick Chron, Joyce Baumbach, Pat Hite, Doug Ray, Rod Hogan, Chris Roach, Randy Plumlee, Colin Light, Sharon Lewis, and Terry Dobbins.

Failing to show up were Vocational Director Warner Richeson, Club Administration Director Scott Villines and Sgt-at-Arms Doug Cargo as well as the unfilled positions of Club Service Director and Club Projects Director.

Tourists were George Elking, George Elwell, Bob Warren, Bill Peterson, Anna Konarzewska, Richard Butterly, Richard Wells, Juergen Mahneke, Judy Jackson, Steve Blair and David Marks.

After all was said and done, more was said, than done, especially about next years 4th of July Parade.

Nothing was done about filling the two empty Directorships on the Board or finding ROTOPIG. PP Rod Hogan has agreed to become Foundation Director.  Membership stands at 49 plus two proposals.  The treasurer reported that some money had come in, some money had gone out and there was some left over in every account. There is a lot of work going on in the Community Service area: Oktoberfest in October, Thanksgiving Dinner for the less fortunate in November and Christmas Cops, Toys for Tots and Angel Tree in December.

Proposed for membership and approved for publication were Michelle Robbins [Data Processing] and Robert Posner [Soul Processing]. Michelle works for EDS <LINK> and is sponsored by Joyce Baumbach. Robert is the Pastor at Collin Creek Church <LINK> and is sponsored by Judy Jackson.
