SECRETARY CHRIS: From the mouths of our
grandchildren: "A young grandson called the other day to wish his
Granddad a Happy birthday. He asked him how old he was and he told him
"62 years old." He was quiet for a moment and then he asked,
"Did you start at 1?" |
MEMBERSHIP CONTINUES to plummet under the legacy President Richard
[the Second] is leaving. Latest to fade away was Kevin Cain
[Construction]. Work began building up interference with early morning
meetings. |
 |
DISTRICT GOVERNOR RICHARD spoke very few words and then
presented President Richard with a flashlight so that he could find his way.
The Governor's wife, Rozelle, promoted the District Conference on October
19-21 <LINK> and presented President
Richard with a gift.

PRESIDENT RICHARD called on PI Billy Meeks for a report on the
search for ROTOPIG. Billy noted that Richard's list of suspects only had
one name on it. He searched that house and found nothing.
Furthermore, the anonymous pictures don't match that home's yard.
The alleged suspect was out of the country that day and out of town
the next week. ROTOPIG was last seen on Aug 3rd when Sgt-at-Arms Doug
turned him over to the President. |

OKTOBERFEST
ANNOUNCEMENTS by Chairthing Randy, Auction Queen Judy and Slave Driver
Doug kept us informed. Juergen Mahneke presented a
Service Award, created by the Employees of the Bavarian Grill <LINK>,
to Doug Cargo for his kitchen help last year.
INDUCTED IN A MOVING CANDLELIGHT CEREMONY, with no Harp Music,
but with soap bubbles, was Robert Posner [Soul Processing]. He is the
pastor of the Collin Creek Church <LINK>
and was sponsored by Judy Jackson.
TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by President Richard in the absence
Paul Huang, Program Chairperson of the month, was Douglas Webb with a
program entitled "It's a Jungle Out There . . . The Business World Has
Become a Zoo!" about the problem of hiring good employees.
Hiring based only on an interview has a 17% success rate. Personality
testing doesn't solve the problem either. There have been major advances in
integrity testing that can reduce turnover 75%. As is our custom, a book was
donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School
in the speaker's name and duly signed by him. It was Walt Disney's
"The Jungle Book" <LINK>.
