John Roach

OUR FAITHFUL SERVERS Ramon and Rene.  Can you recognize them in the "Banditos" painting, which hangs on the wall near our morning coffee and juice table?

ROTOPIG had a fine moment with John Roach for his bad [clean, but bad] joke.  Acting Sgt-at-Arms Doug Ray [no relation to Doug Cargo] read a pig joke off a popsicle stick and fined Brenda Rogers for giving it to him.

ACTING SECRETARY JOYCE BAUMBACH had little to do as there were no guests or visiting Rotarians.

ABSENT WERE Steve Blair, Matt Brown, Doug Cargo, Yvonne Hanks, Judy Jackson, Ken Lambert, Sharon Lewis, Juergen Mahneke, Bill Peterson, Chris Roach, Greg Rushin, Shep Stahel, Don Wilhelmus and Jane Wyen.

BLOOD DRIVE CHAIRTHING Tom Rodgers reminds us of the Collin County Community College,  3 Campus Blood Drive on November 14th. He still needs some help and passed out signup sheets.

PRESIDENT RICHARD II called on Past President Richard I for an update on Thanksgiving at Poor Richard's Cafe.  About 800 meals will be delivered by off-duty policeman to Meals-on-Wheels recipients in McKinney, Allen, Wylie and Plano. George Elking is coordinating this. About 400 free meals will be served in the Restaurant to the less fortunate.

OCCASIONALLY THERE WILL BE TIMES THAT A PERSON WILL NEED TO LEAVE EARLY. When this occurs, please notify the President and the Sgt.-at-Arms [keeper of ROTOPIG] and introduce yourself to the speaker and apologize for having to leave early. It can be quite disconcerting to speakers when people get up and leave during their presentation.  They may have put some time and effort into what they are bringing to us and they certainly had to get up early to be here.

POLITELY LEAVING EARLY were Joyce Baumbach at 7:25 am and John Roach at 7:28 am.

LEAVING EARLY
[POLITELY OR RUDELY? ?]  was John Payton at 7:34 am.

INDUCTED IN A MOVING CANDLELIGHT
ceremony, sans Harp Music but with bubbles, was Jennifer Smith.  She works at GMAC and has been loaned the classification of Auto Loans.  She was sponsored by Eric Hartter [Autos].

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Program Chairthing Paul Huang, was Dr. Jeff Tsay <LINK>, who is an accounting professor at UTA <LINK>.  He presented an account of Taiwan's <LINK> past 400 years, from the colonial era through the struggles against the oppression by outside rulers till the modern democracy. He fielded lots of questions and comments. As is our custom, a book was donated in the speaker's name to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School and duly signed by him. The book was "My World" by Margaret Brown <LINK>.
