JOKE

BREAKFAST SERVER RENE has double duty dishing up as helper Ramone is off on vacation. Bookkeeper Colin is happy keeping Treasurer and Secretary-Elect Pat straight, while Poor Richard entertains him with a bad [but clean] joke.

POOR RICHARD'S JOKE
was interrupted by Retired Marine Fighter Pilot Reeves Davis, who was upset that the United States Flag, which keeps falling over, is dirty and needs to be cleaned or replaced. The Sgt-at-Arms was firmly notified that he should take care of this.

VOCATIONAL DIRECTOR
Warner Richeson introduced the 4-Way Test Speech Contestants. They were Eric Merritt, Jenna Zhu and Tarang Kapoor, all from Plano East.

VISITING ROTARIAN AND GUEST
, introduced by Secretary-Elect Pat Hite were Charles Wolford [Social Service] from the Plano Rotary Club, who came in late at 7:21 am,  and Riggs Rylander [Real Estate] guest of the absent  Rod Hogan. Joyce covered for Rod.

SGT-AT-ARMS DOUG
and ROTOPIG got on "Secretary" Pat for failing to introduce our youngest Honorary member Hunter Hanks.

ABSENT WERE Matt Brown, Steve Dippel, George Elking, George Elwell, Rod Hogan, Ken Lambert, David Marks, Bill Peterson, John Roach, Brenda Rogers and Greg Rushin. Proposed and approved new member Mark Rhodes was also absent.

PRESIDENT RICHARD II introduced the timekeeper and judges for the 4-Way Test Speech Contest. They were Doug Ray, Tom Rodgers, Michelle Robbins and Jennifer Smith.

PAST PRESIDENT RICHARD I
entertained us with another bad [but clean] joke while Warner harassed the score keepers, who were trying to add up the judges numbers.

FINALLY THE RESULTS WERE IN and the scholarship monies were presented to Tarang Kapoor - 1st Place, Jenna Zhu - 2nd Place and Eric Merritt - 3rd Place. Plano East High School  Speech Sponsors Richard and Rosemary Kincaid were introduced.

PRESIDENT RICHARD II
read a letter. Blood Driver Tom Rodgers reminded us of the blood drive this weekend at the Collin Creek Mall  and the Drive on Wed, Feb 13th at 3  CCCCD Campuses. City Councilperson Shep Stahel said that Greg Rushin is going home from the hospital today but not ready yet for visitors.
ROTOPIG had a fine moment with Sharon Lewis.

MEMBERSHIP PLUMMETS AGAIN with the demise of Secretary-President-Elect-Oktoberfest Chairthing Chris Roach [Banking] who is gone every Friday to take care of his parents in Abilene [or Amarillo]. Chris hasn't lost interest but his vault is locked.

PRESIDENT RICHARD II called a stand-up meeting of Past Presidents to discuss the looming leadership problem. Juergen Mahneke took the opportunity to express his concern about some Oktoberfest bookkeeping problems and Richard resolved to resolve them. Chris was Secretary this year, President-Elect and Oktoberfest Chairthing next year and President the year after.  Treasurer and Secretary-Elect Pat Hite is doing the job of Secretary now.  One of the problems of appointing someone is that Club Presidents must have attended a President Elect Training Seminar before they can take office. Some of the ideas thrown out for consideration and non-consideration were to appoint a Past President to fill in.  Split out the Oktoberfest job from the President-Elect position. Who needs a President? Just rotate the job every 2 months among the "has been" Presidents. Change the meeting day to Monday so Chris could stay on.  Don't have a President, just let the Vice President run the meeting. Change to a Lions Club.  Merge with the Kiwanis.
