ABSENT WERE Joyce Baumbach, Steve Blair, Matt Brown, Richard Butterly, Reeves Davis, Steve Dippel, Yvonne Hanks, Eric Hartter, Rod Hogan, Ken Lambert, Don Mellor, John Payton, Bill Peterson, Robert Posner, Doug Ray, Brenda Rogers and Greg Rushin. PRESIDENT RICHARD CALLED FOR ANNOUNCEMENTS. Blood Drive Chairthing Tom Rodgers reminded us of the CCCCD tri-campus blood drive on Wednesday, Feb 13. He needs some volunteers from 1-4pm at the Spring Creek Campus. Sharon Lewis has some tickets to sell for the Plano Metro Rotary 21st Annual Mardi Gras Night Fundraiser, Saturday, Feb 23rd from 6:30-11 pm at Glen Eagles Country Club. President Richard II had a fine moment with ROTOPIG.
TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by 1st quarter Program Chairman Michelle Robbins, was Gloria Cockerell from the Collin County Community College. She told us about the new International Business Degree Program, which is a work course degree. Texas exports in 2006 were $150.8 Billion dollars. The top five exports are Computers and Electronic Equipment, Chemicals, Machinery, Transportation Equipment and Petroleum Products. The top five business partners are Canada, Mexico, China, Korea and the Netherlands. As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School in the speakers' name and duly signed by her. The book was "Biscuit Goes to School" by Alyssa Satin Capucilli <LINK>.
Making up were George Elking, Danny Morris, Bud McBrayer, Bill Moore, Juergen Mahneke, Richard Wells, John Roach, Judy Jackson and Ray Hopper. Absent was Membership Chairthing Joyce Baumbach. Secretary-Elect reported membership at 47 with one in process. Treasurer
reported that some money had come in, some money had gone out and there was some
left over. $500 was voted out of ROTOPIG Fund for the PISD Deaf program with
matching funds to be sought from the membership. We might hear from
contested City and School Board races for a program later. The multitude of
books collected and boxed for South Africa will soon have a ride to Houston
along with some from Cedar Hill Rotary. PR is working on a story about the
books and about the water wells in Zambia and there may be an opportunity for a
trip there in March. No report yet on replacements for
Secretary-President-Elect-President-Oktoberfest Chairthing Chris Roach who has
resigned. Here are the lineups: No replacements have been named for the Director of Club Service vacated by Doug Bicknell who moved to Houston or the Director of Club Projects who was never named. |
