VISITING ROTARIANS, introduced by Secretary-Elect Pat Hite, were Henry Lessner [Financial Planner] from Allen Sunrise, Alice Hobbs [Symphony] from Plano, Gary Basham [Banking] from Plano Metro and Lee Dunlap [Architect] from Plano.

SPECIAL GUEST, was Honorary member, Hunter Hanks who was into everything.

PRESIDENT RICHARD, passed a bucket, in case anyone wanted to make a donation for buying books for the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School.  We will be donating the ones we have accumulated soon in honor of Nellie's birthday celebration.  Poor Richard's Cafe will do one of his semi-annual caterings for the occasion.


PRESIDENT RICHARD
, introduced Gary Basham, who was a Charter Founder <LINK> but not a charter member.  Gary hustled us to buy tickets for the Plano Metro Rotary  21st Annual Mardi Gras Night Fundraiser, Saturday, Feb 23rd from 6:30-11 pm at Glen Eagles Country Club.

DANNY MORRIS passed out sign up sheets for poll watchers for the Primary Elections on March 4th.  Early Voting begins on February 19th and ends on Feb 29th.  More details at <LINK>.


ROD HOGAN REPORTED that Chief Rushin is continuing to recover well at home.   He has had a couple of short hospital stays since he was initially released to clear up post surgical problems but he appears to be doing better now.  He mentioned to me that he was able to drive himself to a doctor's appointment yesterday.  We expect him to return to duty in about four weeks or so? No visitors yet,   but email him gregr at plano.gov where the at is @ with no spaces.

KEN LAMBERT was fined for messing with his Blackberry as he tried to be the first to send Greg an email.

INDUCTED IN A MOVING CANDLELIGHT CEREMONY complete with soap bubbles but no Harp music was Mark Rhodes, who was sponsored by Pat Hite.  He has been loaned the classification of Higher Education.  He works at SMU as the Director of Access and Parking. He lives "In Beautiful Downtown Plano" and takes DART to and from work.

 
PENELOPE'S COUSIN attended the launch of Shuttle Atlantis today.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Joyce Baumbach, was James  Baudoin, Executive Director of the Arts of Collin County.   The Arts of Collin County Commission, Inc. (ACCC)  <LINK> is a local government corporation jointly-owned by the cities of Allen, Frisco and Plano with a five-member Board of Directors appointed by the three Owner City Councils. ACCC is responsible for developing, managing, and operating the 124-acre arts park. As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School in the speakers' name and duly signed by him.  The book was "Morris the Artist" by  Lore Segal <LINK>.
