PHOTOGRAPHER BILL NEUKRANZ set up the backside of the 4-Way test banner as a background with some professional portrait lights and took mug shots. Many were absent and will have to settle for snapshots.

PRESIDENT RICHARD I finally rang the bell and called on Rod Hogan for a report on the Chief.  Greg is home resting with his Blackberry and may be back to work next week.

GUESTS AND VISITING ROTARIANS, introduced by Treasurer and Secretary-Elect Pat Hite were Steve Parry {Sports Tickets] from Plano Metro, Luis Crespo [Business Consultant] from Dallas Evening, Pat Miner [Politician] guest of George Elking and Insurance man Art Papathanasiou ["The Greek"] guest of Don Mellor.

ABSENT WERE Steve Blair, Matt Brown, Richard Butterly, David Daniels, Reeves Davis, Steve Dippel, Yvonne Hanks, Judy Jackson, Ken Lambert, Bud McBrayer, Danny Morris, Randy Plumlee, Robert Posner,  John Roach, Greg Rushin, Shep Stahel, Richard Wells, Don Wilhelmus and Mark Rhodes.

SECRETARY-ELECT PAT HITE asked trivia questions based on the current issue of The Rotarian and few, if any, had the answers.  That was his joke for the day.
SGT-AT-ARMS DOUG CARGO and ROTOPIG fined Pat Miner two-bits per person present for making a political announcement.
BLOOD DRIVE CHAIRTHING TOM RODGERS reported that the 7 out of the 10 Collin County Rotary Clubs participated in the recent CCCCD Campus challenge held at 3 campuses.  There was no participation from the other three Plano clubs. The drive netted 171 units of which 54 were credited to us bringing our total this year to 1165 units out of the district total of 5345 units.
STEVE PARRY FROM PLANO METRO promoted the Plano Metro Rotary  21st Annual Mardi Gras Night Fundraiser, Saturday, Feb 23rd from 6:30-11 pm at Glen Eagles Country Club

DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY SERVICE RICK CHRON is lining up some sweat equity projects for the winter months.  Soon we will be helping Medisend <LINK> package up medicines for shipment to Bangladesh. They will need 10 people on a Saturday morning.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by 1st Quarter Program Chairman Michelle Robbins, was Wally Gomaa, who helps employers spend less on health care by reducing disease and improving health. The real issue is the replacement of sugar by high fructose corn syrup.  Health care cost has been increasing annually at a rate of 12-15%.  There is a boom in obesity and diabetes. Metabolic Syndrome is a signal for a life threatening event.  He had four recommendations:  1 - Cut sugar, 2 - eat slowly, 3 - move more and 4 - no diet. As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School in the speakers' name and duly signed by him.  The book was "I Spy - Extreme Challenger" by  Jean Morzollo. <LINK>

POLITELY LEAVING EARLY AT 7:47 AM
was Warner Richeson, who notified the President, apologized to the speaker and paid a fine to ROTOPIG.  Rudely sneaking out at 7:42 am was John Payton.
