JOKE
John Roach

FAITHFUL SERVER Rene is ready to dish up breakfast as Hunter Hanks strikes a "Mr. Casual" pose.  Paul Huang shows Chief Greg Rushin the miniature Fireman and Policeman dolls that Grayson Rotary uses for their Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. John Roach again accepts a bribe to NOT tell his joke and tries to pass the duty to Poor Richard.

PRESIDENT RICHARD II introduced tee-totaler Warner Richeson, who was faking it with grape juice, as Oktoberfest Sommelier.  Warner will be collecting bottles of wine to be auctioned off. George Elwell donated a fancy cork remover to go with the wine package. Sgt-at-Arms Doug Cargo and ROTOPIG made a few fine points.

District 5810 Blood Drive Chairthing George Elking said; "I'm very proud to salute Plano Sunrise Rotary Club. Their blood donation efforts have been led by Dr. Tom Rodgers, and Club President Richard Biggers.  My home club has been responsible for the collection of 1252, units of blood.  A large segment of this Club's total donations comes from the Annual Plano Battle of the Badges (500 plus units).   The BOB drive along with joint Rotary Club efforts at Collin Creek Mall, Collin College Campus Challenge, Poor Richard's Restaurant and other locations, is how this club made it's numbers."  HISTORY BY CLUBS
  MONTHLY DONATIONS

POOR RICHARD I
groaned on about getting his 2006 Appreciation Plaque for Thanksgiving more than a year late.  Past President Rod Hogan said it was his fault and Jennifer Smith got in a few words also.

LUCKY GUESTS
, introduced by Secretary Pat were Honorary Member Hunter Hanks and Art Papathanasiou [Insurance]  guest of the absent Don Mellor. Pat had a fine moment.

INDUCTED IN A MOVING CANDLELIGHT CEREMONY
sans Harp Music but with gently drifting bubbles was Becky Perry. Becky is an Associate Executive Director at Plano Sunrise Senior Living <LINK> at Parker & Preston. She is sponsored by Brenda Rogers and will be loaned the classification of "Senior Living".

ABSENT WERE Steve Blair, Matt Brown, David Daniels, Eric Hartter, Judy Jackson, Ken Lambert, Sharon Lewis, Colin Light, Juergen Mahneke, David Marks, Bud McBrayer, Don Mellor, John Payton, Bill Peterson and Michelle Robbins.

YVONNE AND HUNTER HANKS left early at 7:34 am.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Secretary-Elect Joyce Baumbach, was Barry Diamond who talked about supercharging your Board of Directors.  Boards represent others and need to be independent from those whom they represent and from those who carry out the activities. Activities should be described in terms of purpose and not in terms of fundraisers.  Boards look at the means and the ends.  As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School and duly signed by the speaker. The book was titled "Are We Alone?".
