FAITHFUL SERVER RENE is ready to serve and Hunter Hanks is ready to eat.

VISITING ROTARIANS, introduced by Secretary Pat Hite, were Charles Wolford [Non-Profit] from the Plano Rotary Club and  the late arriving ADG Courtenay Tanner [Classification unknown] from the Richardson Rotary Club.

LUCKY GUESTS were Honorary Member Hunter Hanks, David Hall, guest of Danny Morris, Russel Head, guest of Judy Jackson and Lynn Nipper guest of Michelle Robbins. Other guests, not pictured, were Susie Anderson and Steve Smith, who were with the program presenter.

ABSENT WERE Steve Blair, Matt Brown, Richard Butterly, David Daniels. Reeves Davis, Ray Hopper, David Marks, John Payton, Bill Peterson, Mark Rhodes, John Roach, Brenda Rogers, Robert Warren and Becky Perry.

SGT-AT-ARMS
Doug Cargo and ROTOPIG had fine moments with Charles Wolford for being late and not wearing a Rotary Pin on and with Joyce Baumbach for messing with her Blackberry during the meeting.
SHEP STAHEL was recognized for his many years of service on the City council and Judy Jackson spoke up for her guest's candidacy.

TEE-TOTALING SOMMELIER Warner Richeson hustled us to bring in our wine contributions for the rack of wine to be auctioned off at Oktoberfest.  He accepted a very small bottle from Doug Cargo, lamenting that it wasn't larger and normal sized,  but was taken aback to find out it was part of a twelve-pack.

BLOOD DRIVE CHAIRTHING
Tom Rodgers reminded us of The Campus Challenge Blood Drive on June 24th, and the Battle of the Badges Drive July 11-13th, which will be kicked off with a float in the 4th of July Parade.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Temporary Program Chairthing Michelle Robbins, was Don Hooton.  Don established in 2004,  The Taylor Hooton Foundation <LINK>,  which is the nation's first private organization dedicated to educating parents, students and coaches about the dangers and devastating effects of anabolic steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. About a million high school students have used anabolic steroids.  The largest user group is freshman girls. As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary and duly signed by the speaker.  The book was "The Young Baseball Player" by Edwardo Perez.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS meeting was held at 8am. Present were Pat Hite, Richard Biggers, Randy Plumlee, Joyce Baumbach, Doug Ray, Warner Richeson, Rick Chron, Scott Villines, Sharon Lewis and Terry Dobbins. Absent were Foundation Director Rod Hogan, International Director Colin Light and Sgt-at-Arms Doug Cargo.
Tourists were Juergen Mahneke, George Elwell, George Elking, Robert Posner, Don Wilhelmus, Don Mellor, ADG Courtenay Tanner, Richard Wells, Bill Neukranz and Michelle Robbins.

Secretary reported 51 members. Membership reported that there was one packet out and that there might be two more after the elections [win, lose or draw] were over. Treasurer said that there was some money in, some money out and some money left over. Oktoberfest Beneficiaries were decided. Steve Blair and Reeves Davis asked that  the rule of  85 be applied to them. It was granted. Vocational Service said we were sponsoring two students from Plano West. Vice President Doug noted that the District has two exchange students coming in that need host families.  Community Service is looking for a sweat equity project for June.
