VISITING ROTARIANS AND GUESTS, introduced by Secretary Joyce, were Lee Dunlap [Architect] from the Plano Rotary Club, Vickie McClung [Real Estate] guest of Brenda Rogers [Real Estate] and Jane Wyen, guest of Judy Jackson.

ABSENT WERE Richard Biggers, Richard Butterly, Doug Cargo, David Daniels, Steve Dippel, Yvonne Hanks, Pat Hite, Rod Hogan, Ken Lambert, Colin Light, Becky Perry, Bill Peterson, Doug Ray, John Roach, Richard Wells and Don Wilhelmus.

PROGRAM CHAIRTHING DAVID MARKS reminded us that next week the USO will be here with the United Through Reading Program and to bring a book from the Children's Booklist by Ages. Also on Saturday, September 6th the troops will be greeted at DFW with Rotarians, Friends and the Blue Star Mothers.

MEMBERSHIP PLUMMETS AGAIN with the departure of Matt Brown, whose classification was "Signs". Matt has gotten out of the sign making business and into a new startup company and is busy traveling a lot.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: President Randy reminded us that the Adoption Awareness Picnic is September 20th. Jennifer Smith encouraged us to go. Sharon Lewis showed off the Poster for Oktoberfest and made them available for distribution to businesses. Joyce Baumbach reported on the small but mighty group that met for Oktoberfest last night at the Bavarian Grill. So far we have sold 14 dinner tickets and 100 raffle tickets.

RICHARD BUTTERLY was absent but sent the Restaurant Sign Up sheets for circulation.

OUR OWN GEORGE ELKING has been named Rotarian of the Year for District 5810. The Club won the Blood Drive Banner for raising the most [1250] units in the District during this Rotary year. Our Blood Drive Chairthing was Tom Rodgers. Our 100% attendance lost out to the Plano Rotary Club's 100% attendance.

NO GEEK WEEK this week as the push for geeky donations for Oktoberfest crashed and was not rebooted.

CLASSIFICATION TALK was by Russel Head whose classification is ENERGY. He has been working for Green Mountain Energy, but has now started a business of his own, as a broker for all energy companies, helping businesses get the best deal for their energy requirements.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Program Chairthing David, was PDG Milton Kessel from the Fair Park Rotary Club. Milton is 86 years old and tutors 40+ students a week in Elementary School in his neighborhood and showed us how easy it is to do and that Rotarians can make a difference. As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School in the speaker's name and duly signed by him. The book was "Missing Math - A Number Mystery" by Loreen Leedy.
