FAITHFUL SERVER RENE dished up the regular Mexican Breakfast starting with George Elwell.

VISITING ROTARIANS, introduced by Secretary Joyce Baumbach were Susan Plonka [Web Agency] from the Plano Metro Rotary Club, Lee Dunlap [Architect] from the Plano Rotary Club and Ken Maun [Tax Assessor-Collector] from the Plano Metro Rotary Club.

 

 

EXTRA SPECIAL GUEST was Mark McLendon [Minister] from Eastern Hills Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama. He was the guest of and step-son to Terry Dobbins.

SPECIAL TALK TODAY by Bill Peterson [Disaster], who was the Fire Chief in Plano for 23 years until his retirement in January 2006. Bill accepted a Presidential appointment as director for the Region VI office of the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA's Region VI is headquartered in Denton, Texas, and oversees agency operations in Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.<LINK> Bill said that it will take 10-12 years to repair the damage from Hurricane Ike. Bill is looking forward to retirement in January.
POLITELY LEAVING EARLY was George Elking who notified the President, apologized to the speaker and paid his fine to ROTOPIG.

TODAY'S PROGRAM, introduced by Program Chairthing David Marks, was Head Coach Troy Espirit from the  Frisco Thunder  Indoor Football Team. Their season runs from March through June and the play in the Dr Pepper StarCenter in Frisco. As is our custom, a book was donated to the Nellie McCall Library at the David McCall Elementary School in the name of the speaker and signed by him.   The book was "My Football Book" by Gail Gibbons.
